Reminder to all parents and guardians:

Student fees are dues Friday 9/30/16.  You can pay student fees online through the school website under the “parent tab” at the top of the page or by sending a check to the high school.  AP Test Fees are not due until April 30, 2017.

Student Fees can be paid during the Principal Coffee from 7-8:30 on Thursday September 29th, in the main office.  Please pay by check or with exact cash, no change can be given. ( Credit Card payment can be done through the Wyoming Website under the parent tab. )  All student fees are due by September 30th.  Invoices were passed out at Open House or mailed home.  AP Test fees will be due by April 30th, 2017.  Questions, contact Mrs. Burke at 206-7062 or burkec@wyomingcityschools.org


WSMA High School Student Yard Signs

The Wyoming School Music Association (WSMA) is once again making yard signs available to purchase for high school students who participate in high school band, orchestra, and choir programs – and this year we have added a color guard option. DANCE RULES page 36

  1. In order to attend a dance, a student must be in attendance for at least 5 of the 7 bells.
  2. Once you leave a dance, you may not re-enter.
  3. Students will submit to drug/alcohol screening, including the use of a portable breathalyzer, upon request of school authorities.
  4. Students will NOT sell, purchase, possess, or show evidence of having consumed intoxicants.
  5. Students will comply with all school rules, regulations and reasonable requests from school authorities.
  6. The dance is open only to Wyoming High School students and one invited approved guest form.
  7. A photo I.D. is required of all guests.
  8. No inappropriate contact or gestures permitted on the dance floor.
  9. The school is not responsible for lost articles.

All rules and regulations also apply to parking lot areas and automobiles.  Testing positive for the use of intoxicants and/or failing to comply with all rules and regulations will result in removal from the event, suspension and/or expulsion from school, and or legal/action.


Any girl interested in playing basketball in the winter and not currently playing a fall sport should plan to attend open gyms at Wyoming High School.  Dates and time are below.  Please contact head coach Vanessa Laug at vanessa.laug@gmail.com  with any questions.

COLLEGE REP VISITS FOR JUNIORS & SENIORS:

 Remember that students must sign up in advance in Naviance!  9/26 Roosevelt Univ., Univ. of Dayton, Brown Univ., 9/27 Indiana Univ., Johns Hopkins Univ., Tufts Univ., Northwestern Univ., Carleton College, 9/28 College of Wooster, 9/29 Univ. of Tennessee, 9/30 The New School, Ohio Northern Univ., 10/5 Univ. of Cincinnati, 10/6 Transylvania Univ.

 The “practice” ACT for the juniors went off perfectly!  They will receive their results and will learn how to interpret their scores during extended homeroom on October 5th.  Next up is the PSAT for sophomores and juniors on October 19th.

Just a reminder that all juniors will be taking a “practice” ACT on Tuesday, September 20th in the morning.  They will follow a normal schedule in the afternoon.


Are you interested in the scientific disciplines of physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, inquiry, or earth space science? Are you interested in food borne illness, microbial diseases, invasive species, stellar evolution and supernovas, climate change, forensics, wind power, hydrogeology, robotic arms, or hovercrafts? These are just some examples of the 23 events that the Science Olympiad team competes in throughout the State of Ohio.

Come to the informational meeting for the Wyoming High School Science Olympiad team grades 9 -12, on Wednesday, September 21 afterschool in Mr. Sharpe’s classroom, room 212.

We will go over key dates, discuss practice times, and have sign-ups for the team. The meeting should last 20 to 30 mins. Questions – Please see Mr. Sharpe.

DRESS CODE

Students are expected to dress in a manner appropriate for school conducive to a healthy, safe and orderly environment.  Inappropriate dress is deemed such because it either (1) interferes with student’s safety, health and welfare or that of other students, or (2) causes disruption or directly interferes with the educational process, or (3) is excessively revealing or distracting (i.e. too tight, shows undergarments), or (4) is an article of clothing, button, or badge that contains the following: offensive/obscene/vulgar words, phrases, or illustrations; derogatory statements toward the purpose of education, political, religious, radical or national groups; references drugs, alcohol, weapons, violence, gangs; sexual references; and/or advertises any product or service not permitted by law.

TOP WEAR:  Upper body articles of clothing should cover the shoulder to the waist. No skin should be shown above or below the waistline, front or back, while sitting, standing or walking.  No spaghetti straps.

Shirts must not extend past mid-thigh.  Boys must not wear tank tops,  muscle tops or sleeveless shirts.  Undergarments must not be exposed.  No off-the-shoulder shirts, coats or backpacks.

BOTTOM WEAR:  Shorts and pants must be worn at the waist.  No “sagging” (baggy) pants or shorts.  Undergarments must not be exposed.  Shorts, skirts and dresses must reach mid-thigh or longer.  Undergarments must not be exposed.

HEADGEAR:  No hats, hoots or headgear (i.e. du-rags) will be worn in the school building.

Students arriving at school dressed inappropriately will be required to call home to arrange for suitable clothing.

No dress code can address changing styles and fads.  A determination will be made by an administrator whether a student’s dress or garments meet the school’s requirements.
